Project Four:
Raised Patio & Landscape Renovation
Morristown, NJ

This client had recently renovated the interior of their house.  During this renovation, two new French door sets were added to provide access to the backyard.  Wooden steps were built as a temporary exit point.  The client wanted to develop an area off of the French doors that would serve as a entertaining, sitting and Jacuzzi location.  Green Earth designers were met with the challenge of having to raise the  area to create an immediate step-off point from the house to the new patio.  Fieldstone walls were built to create a raised platform for the newly installed paver patio.  Large fieldstone slabs served as the hot tub entry point and as steps from the elevated patio to the lower lawn area.  Planting beds were carved alongside the house and along the fieldstone wall perimeter.

Green Earth designers utilized ornamental grasses and bamboo on one side of the design to provide a future privacy screen.  Lower lying plant material such as bayberry and perennials (i.e., astilbe, etc.) were planted to maintain the expansive feel of the backyard, while also offering color and fragrance.
