Bluestone

Following the construction of a new addition, it became apparent that the
landscape also needed to be revitalized. The previous landscape was comprised of
overgrown evergreens that had been planted decades earlier. The homeowner wanted
a design that not only complemented the new look of the house, but also
optimized their modest plot. Hardscape (i.e., paver driveway, bluestone
walkways, patios & bluestone steps, etc.) & drainage work were conducted
first. Planting commenced soon
thereafter. Lighting fixtures was installed along planting beds, walkways, on
the wood deck & within the gazebo. Given the lot’s limited size (100’ X
125’) the designer was challenged to create a plan that would achieve both the
aesthetic & functional aspirations for this project. In addition, the west
side of the property featured a slope of tangled ivy & weeds that the
homeowner wished to clean & better utilize.
The steep grade of this hill also experienced severe erosion & consistently
produced pools of water & silt that flowed into the backyard during rainy
seasons, making this part of the property unusable.
