The keystone wall that had been installed by the original contractor had collapsed due to lack of drainage, thus causing rapid hillside erosion.  The steep slope made the yard difficult to negotiate, thus rendering it useless from a functional standpoint.  The original landscape contained small, common evergreens that did not complement the home’s size or architecture.  Large plant material was needed to replace the shade tree line.  Mature specimens and colorful, perennial blooms were used throughout to instantaneously eliminate the aesthetic bareness.  The Client desired a naturalized, yet structurally sound hardscape line (since this structure would face the house front).
