Project Three:
Fieldstone Retaining Wall & Perennial Swath
Upper Montclair, NJ
The client was not happy with the
bland/stark appearance of their driveway area. They desired a
landscape design that would offer more curb appeal and season long color.
Green Earth designers plotted a new fieldstone retaining wall along the length
of the driveway to offer height and textural difference as people
drove up to the front of the house. A wide variety of perennials were
planted throughout the lower bed line in order to provide ample blooms and
constant color. Ornamental grasses and lower lying plant material was planted
along the wall's upper beds to soften the hardscape line. The overly
trimmed shrubs that were originally in the foundation planting were replaced
with softer, more naturalistic plant selections.
